            1. i wanted to make a more philosophical statement about vip. lots of ppl congratulating me for vip but it's not really about me (post-authorship, etc.) as i've said in the past, i make the work for you, for the network. i'm happy the network has accepted it into its heart. more 👇🏻
oh my god twitter doesn’t include alt text from images in their API

i made vip to celebrate the things i love about the internet hoping that the right online people would understand and embrace it. eg. it's why the form of vip is a low res pixel face – as if a milady applied a pixel filter to go online to preserve anonymity. a pfp for your pfp

in convo with @CharlotteFang77 the other day about the term deriv, i said i liked the term fan art bc it was more internet. i believe internet culture is built on fan art. at least the weird and beautiful parts of it. tho maybe all art is fan art – just being a fan of the world @riotgoools/1653442219762941953

as robert filliou once said "art is what makes life more interesting than art.” filliou was a fluxus artist, a movement which i consider a precursor to network art. i believe charlotte also cites another semi-fluxus artist, ray johnson as a precursor as well

the user generated culture, or "fan art", is one of the things that attracts me most ab milady. i know not everyone is here for the deep dives, some ppl r just struggling to turn $10 into $11, that’s ok, but i need to put things in this space that have deeper resonance and r fun

vip is in the network's hands now, please take care of them! i will keep making vip art myself as a contributing user on the network and, as i wrote in the vip intro doc, i hope to see other people put their favorite vips to good use to help build the very internet as well. ily🤍
